GA-K8u-939 dual channel issue

I recently got a ga-k8u-939 mobo and an Athlon 64 3500+ from a friend who gave up after not being able to get it to work. (I know its old )

By setting the Dimm OverVoltage Control to +.2V I was able to get it to run with no problems using only one ram stick. (Wasn't able to get past memory check before changing to +.2V)

I used two of the same stick (PNY optima pc3200 1gbx2) to get the dual channel, first time it boot up it noticed it and said dual channel. After that, every time i power it on or reboot, it will hang at the POST. Going back to just one stick, and it will not have any problems at all. I have tested both indvidually and there is no problem with them and it also will run if both are in single channel.

I have not been able to get it to achieve dual channel since that.

The rest of the bios setup is default (Version F5)

Any suggestions?

Check you have the correct RAM timings set. I'm guessing those modules are either 2.5-3-3-10 or 3-4-4-10, maybe a little lower. Also check to see if setting a 2T command rate rather than 1T will let them function in dual channel. Sounds like a similar problem that I had with my old MSI K8N Neo4. I was trying to get 4 512MB modules to run with a 1T command rate, and it's a no go, 2T only.

If you have no luck, you could try to find some high spec RAM. I'm sure there'll be some being sold really cheap. Moving over to some nice modules solved my issue, and let me OC to 2.6GHz (X2 3800, socket 939).

Edit: the modules below are rated to 2.75V, and they litterally get baking hot at those voltages. Be careful unning your modules at +0.2V, that's 2.70V, and without heatspreaders they'll get extremely warm.

I have it set to 2T and CL at 3 at the moment.

Now it seems like the first time i put both in - dual channel kicks in but once I turn the computer off and turn back on or reboot it hangs. If I take one stick out boot it up and turn off then put in the 2nd stick back in and boot, dual channel kicks in again but will do the same as i mentioned above.

I've tried setting it at 200mhz and 166mz and setting the CL to 2.5 but I keep getting the same result.

Also, I should mention that I've tried both 1&2 and 3&4 and the results are the same.
