Re: What would you try next?

corlay please check out my pm as i have been having problem with my same mobo and memory... i think the 4x2g memory is the problem. I need some advice. Half of my hair is gone from this week. TO the point where i took off the 4th of july first shift from work NOT EVEN THINKING that i get paid 2.5 times my pay for working it. CRUDDDDDDDDDDD!!!! so bye bye 140$ Now i HAVE to get my 8gigs of memory working just to have some sense that it may have been worth it.

Re: What would you try next?

ok, was able to hit FSB=433 without too much difficulty this past weekend, but FSB=444 proved to be elusive.

I tried just about everything, with Vcc up to 1.375, Vtt up to 1.300, and MCH Core up to 1.34. Also tried lowering MCH Ref by as many as 3-ticks. Not enough voltage would BSOD in Windows, and once that threshold was crossed, p95 would always fail in test #2 of small FT's (the 10k test, I believe...). I never even made it to large FFT's or blended.

If more voltage than this is required, then I think I've hit the wall , on the 9.5 CPU multiplier. The 1.375 yields a max. actual v of 1.34 in CPU-ID; and I am not willing to cross the 1.35 threshold there. I had hoped that since jumping from FSB=422 to FSB=433 required increases of only Vcc +0.025v, Vtt +0.02v, and MCH +0.02v; that I would be able to hit 444 without too much trouble.
        Oh, well...

As a final exercise, I may start playing around with a higher FSB and lower CPU multiplier, keeping CPU frequency ~4.0-4.1GHz, to evaluate if that yields better performance, due to increased DRAM bandwidth. But if that requires MCH cove v above 1.32v, I'll probably abandon that path as well.

In the end, I'm guessing that my stable [email protected] config will become my 24/7 BIOS.
Voltage levels and temps are in comfortable ranges with my cooling capabilities.

        For record,
here are my stable [email protected] settings:
