Overclocking - e5200 with ga-ep43c-ds3

Hi guys,

I've been trying to overclock this all day and getting no where! Havent got it to post with non default values yet!

Could anyone provide me the settings required to hit in around the 3.5ghz mark? I would be forever indebted to you :)

Just pump it up yhea.

For a more inteligent advise we'll need some more info about your system, PSU, how much memory, CPU heat sink etc., put that info in your signature.
Fill your settings in the template found in this post. Ignore the values in it, just fill it with your own instead. If any MIT settings are missing in the templet add them, delete those not applicable to your board. Fill MB suggested settings and those that are currently set.

Someone will be able to assist you I'm sure.

Here is a more complete list of my system: (click the english flag on the top right for "english" :) )

PSU: Corsair 450W

CPU: E5200

Cooler: Scythe Ninja 2 (fan installed)

GPU: 512mb 4850

Mobo: GA-EP43c-DS3

RAM: 4GB DDR2 Pc2-6400 (so 4gb in total, 2x2gb pieces)

HD: 1TB samsung eco
1TB samsung spinpoint F1

Case: Antec 300.

Fans:
Rear: 12cm set to exhaust
Top: 14cm set to exhaust
Front: 2x 12cm Set to Intake
Side: -

Will post up the MIT options availble to me when i get home.

I was only able to reach 3.6GHz for 24/7 use.
It really is luck of the draw whether you get an exceptional CPU or not.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the link. Using your settings (other than multiplier ,i used 12.5) i got up to 3.33. Booted into windows and Prime95 ran good. Am going to try hit 3.5ghz and torture test it for the night!

sorry for being such newb but could anyone tell me what the story with the RAM is?

I understand the limit of my ram is 800mhz, at the moment its (3x266)

But should i be able to boot if its lower than 800mhz?
say for example i ended up 2.66x280=744?

The main story of memory is that not all multipliers work for all FSB frequencues.
If you can run at 333FSB with lower CPU Ratio you'd have a multiplier for DDR-800 and be able to use it at it's low latency settings for best memory performance.
Not very likely you can get lower settings for DDR-744 and leaving them as they are is in fact using higher settings, whice may result in (small) degraded.memory performance.

Hey guys,

Thanks so much for your advice!

I went tinkering around with it today and its currently running at 4Ghz and survives IBT'n. Load temps are around 63-64c max. Very happy with it!

I'll post my settings when my mam gives me back my laptop
