I think it's disgusting that they're charging you.

If you bought the mobo and card at the same time, you can argue that you bought them to work together. You'd be covered if under UK law, but I'm not sure about any other country.

At least you've done all you can on the testing side and can now be 100% sure it's the board.

sent my email 3 days ago to gigabyte and still no reply. they have by far the worst customer support that i have ever run across. what is the use of support if it takes days to get a answer that you need fast.
i got a new psu, it is this one

So no luck with the voltage adjustments I mentioned?

Well hope your new PSU works for ya. What was Psycho referring to you being charged for?

I would send in a new ticket maybe, they normally answer within a day or two I hear. So maybe your email was lost or overlooked?

got the new supply but havent messed with it.

            upping the volt did nothing.

i searched the web and found that sapphire has a known bad batch of these cards(SKU#11150-05 // P/N:288-1E115-020SA). this is the batch that mine is. others are having the same exact problem. i am going to contact newegg and talk so someone about this problem. there is no reason why i should have to pay a restocking fee for a bad board. if nothing else i would either like a new card from a new batch or my money back with no fees.

Re: problem with hd4890 and output and GA-MS790GP-UD4h

I agree. They should replace it free of charge or refund. note that if they only have that batch number in stock, or if the batch number isn't on the outside of the box you may get another suspect card.

If Newegg insist on charging you a fee then you may want to consider an RMA to Saphire. They obviously know about the faulty cards and if it tests as faulty they'll no doubt replace it with a fully working one.

Your third, least favourable option is if the fees and postage etc are too much consider selling it on eBay. As you say, it seems to work fine in another PC, so there should be no issues for someone else who has a different board. Mention the issues with your board and you should be golden. Obviously selling it at a loss isn't ideal. Unless you have a card in sealed packaging, then the thing is instantly worth less to a buyer.

Re: problem with hd4890 and output and GA-MS790GP-UD4h

Sapphire charges a $15 RMA fee. Which is really for S/H charges to send the replacement back to you. I thought this fee was resonable, but when you consider you already paid for S/H for the first card and S/H to send them the RMA card. It does'nt seem so resonable from that perspective. Oh well it's still better than a full replacement cost.

Re: problem with hd4890 and output and GA-MS790GP-UD4h

i feel bad now. this whole time i have been bad talking sapphire and Egg about this card not working.
i put in the new psu this morning and plugged the card in. i tested it out to make sure every thing was working(also no leaks) and the gpu did not beep and the fan was at low speed.
i pulled everything in and it fired up the very first time. i have installed 9.8 and have ran a couple of games and it seems flawless. also it is dead silent.
i shall now turn my anger on to OCZ. I can not recommend thier psu to anyone after this mishap. the thermaltake is running dead silent and stable as heck. maybe the ocz did not have enought juice but it was a 700w supply.
thanks for the the help. i will post more as i test this psu and gpu out for several days.

i am using cat 9.5, they seem to be real stable. 9.8 would lock up on me.

is there a way i can use the hybird crossfire with this setup? in device manager you can see both onboard and 4890 but in ccc there is no crossfire option
