  • Problem with RAM in EP45-UD3P

Trying to get my Kingston RAM (HyperX PC-8500 KHX8500-D2K2) up to speed. This ran at 1066 in my evga 780i board with manual settings and upping DRAM V to 2.2V.
I've tried various settings with this board and no luck getting it past 533 (it should at least run at 800)

I'm running mild OC on the e8400 (3.6) and just can't get the RAM right. I've clocked the RAM back to the settings I had on my 780i after multiple attempts with different settings. Looking for a little help

    CPU-Z (1.51) shows:
    DRAM Freq: 533.3 MHz
    FSB:DRAM 3:4
    CL 5
    tRCD 7
    tRP 7
    tRAS 15

Re: Problem with RAM in EP45-UD3P

CPU-Z shows RAM clock DDR2 rate is double the clock so you're ok with 1066, you'll need to set standard timings manually to manufacturer specs.

      @Chike
I thought CPU-Z did that (couldn't remember for sure *brain-fart*).
LOL, looks like I was there and didn't know it.
Well at least it got me up to speed with the BIOS options.

Re: Problem with RAM in EP45-UD3P

Like Chike says, but to expand if you're running the 2.66D strap with a FSB of 400 MHz then you’re are running 1066 (1064) MHz. What you can do is multiply the fsb by the strap and poof! You got your memory frequency. But you knew that...

Most your voltages are left on auto while you are overclocking, some might be over volted.
If you post a screen capture of EasyTune advanced voltage ppl who knows what's what may be able to tell you if they are set to safe values.

Easytune wouldn't run in Win7RC x64 for me, the exe would start but the GUI wouldn't come up. I haven't tried it in RTM yet. I have the latest from the support site and the ver from the CD that shipped with the board. I'll try it later tonight...

Re: Problem with RAM in EP45-UD3P

Include the following in your screen-shot:
Memset using the SPD and ">>" tabs
                cpu-z main screen
EasyTune6 --> TUNER tab --> ADVANCE tab --> VOLTAGE tab

This post has a sample screen-shot.

With your 400MHz Cpu Host Fequency, Static tRead Value = 7 for both memory channels (A & B) will increase your memory's performance by 3% and should be stable.

EasyTune is the only software I know that shows the target voltages. As you can see the defailts in BIOS are not always the actual applied values.
Maybe it just need to be run as administrator, or in one of the compatibility modes.

Are you sure that ET6 won't run?
When it starts, it is minimized in the system tray and you need to double click on the icon.
If ET6 still doesn't work, is there a "mode" in windows7 that lets you run older applications. As a last resort, fill in your current bios settings using the generic bios template at the bottom of this post.

That was it, it was loading in the SysTray. Now why the hell would they have it set that way? I'm sorry, but if I have an "Application" that I have to launch from the Programs Menu, it better show up on my desktop. "ETcall" runs at startup and from what I see EasyTune reads info from that. Why hide EasyTune in the SysTray? Don't get it, but now that I found it here's the shot:
