Hi folks
I just upgraded my motherboard to the EP45-UD3P. The CPU is a Q9400, the OS is Windows XP, and theres 4 gigs of memory. HDD is plugged into a the yellow SATA port as are the back panel SATA ports (though I don't have any plans for them for now).
Everything worked great from first power up, I'm using it right now! But after installing the GIGABYTE utility DVD (ver 1.06), I have lost access to the Sony DVD writer and the LiteOn CD Writer on the IDE port. Neither of these devices are now working properly, even though the operating system says they are.
When I up explorer or My Computer, the drive is listed. If I click on the the drive to show the contents, the computer essentially 'hangs'. I have to do the three finger salute to bring up Task Manager. I have to manually eject the CD to break the hang (with out rebooting that is).
If I go to Device Manager, again the devices are listed, but oddly enough, they named as being SCSI devices even though they are IDE and on the IDE port. If I uninstall the devices in the Device Manager and do a power down and then a restart, the OS reinstalls them automagically without going through a new hardware found dialog sequence.
Has anybody seen this before?
Got any hints about what I should try next?
