Re: EP45-UD3LR BIOS help overclock error message

One step up MCH Core won't do no harm, also your RAM voltage is set 1.8, set it one tick higher.
Please sort your template and post your settings.

Re: EP45-UD3LR BIOS help overclock error message

Hi Chike thanks for your quick reply. I rechecked and submitted my settings as you requested. I have been having a time with BSOD's and I thought it was due to my graphics card but thats been swapped out now and still BSOD'S are happening. I am at 352 now and I will try the MCH core a little higher

PS when people get busy I have been just updating the same post with updates written in different color with dates of occurance listed first. See the above posts for some examples. OK Professor Jim I will try to clean it up with another color.

Are you using a plain text editor like Notepad??
If you're using a word processing application, it might be adding extra control characters that is messing up the line breaks.

Copy this simplified bios template into your text editor and see if you have better posting results.

Re: EP45-UD3LR BIOS help overclock error message

Hi Professor Jim yes I am using the Rich Text Document for my BIOS text editor. I guess I should be using plain .txt editor like you suggested. I will try that tomorrow, kind of tired its been a long day LOL. Anyway I have tried upping the MCH core like Chike suggested but when I tried 360 FSB I got a error that windows had recovered one part of the registry and replaced it with another file or copy of registry and then it went BSOD with no error message at all. I am suspecting a bad hard drive as this is a recertified drive that I may have sent back for repairs in the past (darn it WD ).

Save it as text (safe as in file menu, and select new format).
Since you know there is an issue do not boot right into windows, run memtest86+ first.
Does the syste, work without a problem with stock settings?

Re: EP45-UD3LR BIOS help overclock error message

Yes it works all the way up to 356 FSB then it just starts Blue screening with varied Blue screen messages. One more thing is I have recently updated the BIOS and the ACHI version jumped from 1.06( I think) to 1.20. So maybe there are problems with the Intel drivers as they think the Intel version is 1.06 or X.XX , but it has changed to 1.20, without reinstall.
Just a thought? Of course I havent been saying my prayers too, LOL, so maybe someone upstairs is mad at me.

I meant now not before, in time system files and file system may become corrupt.
Did you try 360FSB with CPU Ratio 6?

I have not tried the lower multiplier yet, no. I did in the past but I did not have increased voltages like now. But I will try that next along with memtest. Edit well I guess you were just asking as you stated that I could get more registry corruption if I continue testing. like you reccomended, however the memory is brand new.
I will still test however as I could still get a defective stick or two. I also am running two sticks at the time but when I run memtest I know to use only one stick for the test.

With new memory, I run an extended Memtest86+ test with non-overclocked settings.
Version 4.0 runs the first test loop faster than before, but the additional test loops take about 1/3 more time to complete compared to the v2.11 version.

I only perform the single memory module test, one for each stick, if I get errors with the dual module test at stock settings.

I agree that Memtest86+ is useful to find "serious" bios setting errors.
I probably confused this thread with another active thread where new memory was tried.

As Roseanne Roseannadanna use to say: Never mind. ;)

I only perform the single memory module test, one for each stick, if I get errors with the dual module test at stock settings.
Just checked the version that I am running now and its called memtest-86 (I think its the + version) It has these options in the startup choose 1 for v3.5 (single CPU) 2.v3.5 Beta (multi CPU) and 3 to choose older version 3.4
First of all I may not have the latest version on this disk, I will look for the other disk or just DL yet another latest version and burn it to DVD CD. In the mean time I am testing with v3.5 single CPU as it only one that seems to work. This will take some time so I will post back when I have some results. I also will be looking for another hard drive as I may do a backup and reinstall on this PC due to the ACHI BIOS being updated and I also want to get away from the Darn WD hard drive that is recertified. I will change to a seagate 500Gig which I recently purchased. (but I need to find it first LOL).
