Ok I did what you suggested. I loaded optimized defaults. I booted into windows, then restarted and entered the bios. These settings get me into windows. I haven't run IBT.

      Thanks!

I would suggest you make these changes, as for IBT you will need to tweak things a bit before you find stability with that

Ok. Will give her a try. Definately not stable at the settings I posted. I tried gaming & it rebooted after 5 minutes.

I appreciate your help. I'm sure we can tame this wild beast. Lol. I tried IBT and got a BSOD right away. I then changed the driving strength profile to 800 and again ran IBT. Again I got the blue screen.

Damn, not sure what that is on P45 as I have not used it in so long I forget. On X58 that means more QPI/Vtt is needed, so it may still mean more Vtt on P45 so try that next if that is the one it is

I tried 1.44, 1.46 & 1.48 on the CPU termination. I get the same bsod code. Scanning Google regarding that code but not getting much info.

I've played with every freaking setting and get the same bsod each & every time. This blows. I think I'm going to hit Microcenter on Friday & grab a Q9550. What stepping & vid should I look for?

Thanks prof. Did some googling and it seems only the E0's are available. There are different vids available as well. Looks like the lower the vid, the higher the o/c. Lower vid also = lower volts & temps.

Lower VID does not always mean lower temps or better overclocks, but it does mean your chances may be better in that respect. All CPU's are different, even two from the very same batch can overclock =very differently.

I think you are making a good move though, this CPU will be much better for your board and overclocking wishes!

Let us know how you get along once you install it
