  • OC'ing for the first time!

Hi all...I've finally installed everything and it is running smoothly. I'd like to start the OC'ing process and just looking for a few tips or suggestions on what numbers to use...here is my setup:

    Q9300 (7.5x333=2.5)
    GA-EP45-UD3P Rev 1.6
    G.SKILL PI Black DDR2 800
    Seagate Barracuda 750GB/WD Velociraptor
    NVidia 9800GT
    Zalman 9500A CPU Cooler
    Antec NeoPower 650W
    Antec 300 Case

Some preliminary research shows that I can get a stable cpu speed of 3.4-3.5ghz...not sure how to tune the BIOS though well enough to get this...and I guess too scared to do it without suggestions. So any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well you start by upping your FSB to say 343 MHz and see what you get. Also post your current bios settings using this template and a link you your ram would be helpful. Just ignore the number and replace with yours.

Here is a link to my ram: G.SKILL PI Black

How do I post the template? Apologies for being such a newb.

Re: OC'ing for the first time!

Can I increase the cpu speed without touching the RAM? I would like to leave my memory at stock right now.

          Thanks,

Up to a pint yes. Lowest memory multiplier is 2 so that will be 400FSB, which can bring you to 3GHz, above that you will have to OC the mermory.
