    EP43-UD3L random freezes while running games

    I just finished building my first computer maybe 4 weeks ago and I'm moderately happy with it. However, I seem to be having a problem with certain games where the computer will freeze and enter a sound loop. For example when I start WoW the system will freeze once i select my character and go onto the loading screen. How can i go about fixing this problem?

    specs:
    mobo: EP43-UD3L, F4 bios
    Windows 7 home basic (64-bit)
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66 GHz
    4.0 (2x2Gb) GB DDR2 Kingston 2.0v RAM
    nVidia GTX 250 512 mb
    650 watt PSU
    1 TB Hitachi 7200rpm HD

    any help would be VERY much appreciated

    First thing to do if haven't done yet is to load optimized defaults.
    Problem may be a result of driver, hardwaer compatibility, or BIOS settings issue.
    Run some stability test to verify hardware/settings integrity.
    Prime95 blend torture for 8+ hours would be a good start.
    Is F4 the original BIOS that came with the board? F6 is available, but I wouldn't rush to update as it is always a risk.

      Yeah I have already loaded the BIOS to optimized defaults. F4 is the original BIOS that were on the motherboard. How would I go about upgrading it to F6? I was unable to find the F6 version for my motherboard on gigabyte's site. I will run a stress test over the night.

        As I said, I would not rush to upgrade.
        The BIOS is there GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - BIOS - GA-EP43-UD3L (rev. 1.0)

          i would also uninstal and re-instal graphic card drivers as overclocking software can corrupt them when they crash

            Stress test finished just fine. Looks like my only real remaining option will be to upgrade my bios to F6 and hope that all goes well. I was also thinking that something may be wrong with the timing on my ram. I already had to change the voltage on the bios to 2.0 from the 1.8 that it was set at however it didn't stop the system from freezing.

              Try to run IBT(IntelBurnTest) standard stress level.

              BIOS set DRAM Voltage to 1.9v as default, and if the memory has EPP profile it will set it according to it.

              Could you post a screen capture of EasyTune -> Tuner -> Advanced -> Voltage tab and MemSet main and spd(click spd) windows?
              Video drivers are up to date?

                I updated my bios to F6 from F4 successfully. Here are the screen shots.

                      Can you post current M.I.T and Advanced BIOS settings using the template below?
                      Ignore any value in it and just replace them with your own, including default values and ????.

                          You are overclocked? I didn't realize that. The MemSet screen capture was taken with those settings?

                          Try MCH Core 1.2v.

                            No that screenshot was taken before I overcloked it. I overclocked it afterward hoping it would have some effect. it didn't. Also i changed MCH Core to 1.2v and it did not help.

                              Try MCH Core 1.0v.
                              You would have to run memtest86+ on both sticks individually and both slots 1 & 3.
                              There is no point chasing settings if you have a faulty memory stick or memory slot.
