enter bios, enable blck control - change the blck from its stock 133 to 165 . This will give you 3.465ghz .

Change memory multi from auto to 10x = 1650mhz Ram speed.

Change uncore freq to 20x and qpi link to 36x

up your vdimm to 1.64v, if this voltage dont boot bump it to 1.66v . Manually set your ram timings to what u have above.

Change vcore from auto to 1.3v . U probly have a D0 chip, so that should be plenty. Use it to start .

Change qpi from auto or 1.15 which is "normal" to 1.3v . Since you will be using 1.64-1.66vdimm, do not forgot to up the qpi voltage. Bad things can happen if u do forget. You cannot have more than .5v between your vdimm and qpi voltage.

Those are pretty much the basics, and should most definitely be solid.

You may need an aftermarket cooler, i dunno if u have one or not as you didnt list it. Be sure you have realtemp open and stress it with prime95. Keep your eyes on the temps.

Hey Ferg, how high were your temps while idle and under load? Glad it went smoothly for ya.

whoa 65c idle? Thats WAY too high... what are ur optimized defaults temps? Put everything to stock by loading optimized defaults and let us know ur temps. You can also change ur vcore from auto to 1.2 and see how many degrees u drop. Im a little worried you may have a badly seated heatsink.

I have the ol' 1.0 revision. My brother is using the 1.6, his 1.0 recently died. RIP.

Keep urs clocked at stock til u get that cooler . How hot u get under load at stock? I would be careful if i was u. What stepping chip u have, im guessing the D0 ?

Also, what is ur choice of thermal paste/grease?

Arctic Silver 5, thats like the industry standard. Real good stuff, use it myself. Noctua, i use it myself - excellent cooler. With your D0 chip, alot of people on this forum can do 4ghz and stay around 65c-70c under load and use only 1.3vcore, sometimes less. For reference, 4ghz on my C0 needs 1.55vcore as well as several other voltage tweaks and gets close to 90c under load with HT ON. However @ 3.8, u can see what im using , much less vcore and under load is about 15-20c cooler.

you can afford to set cpu voltage to normal with a d0 chip and enable c1e in advanced cpu features,it will knock a good 6c off idle temps, why have it running at full 3.8ghz when idle? when you can let it throttle down at idle n have it at full 3.8ghz when stressed.thats what c1e is for.i would disable it at clocks higher than 3.8ghz tho
