First off System specs to get that outta the way first.
Mobo: GA-p55a-UD4P
CPU: I7 860 w/ Corsair H50
PSU: Seasonic M12D 850 Watt
Ram: 2 sticks of G.Skill ripjaws (1600)
Video: Radeon 5870
The Mobo, CPU, Ram are all brand new. The PSU and Video card I've had for months without an issue.
Here the problem now:
The computer starts up without a problem on a cold boot and runs perfectly fine. But if I shut down the system I can't get it to start up again after that. What happens when I turn it back on again is the system starts up, then turns itself off a half a second later. Sometimes it tries to start up again a few seconds later just to fail and turn off again.
When I can get it to post on a warm boot it resets the bios settings and gives the warning screen about recovering from a bad overclock. Now this system is running on default settings with no overclocking. I've also had the backup bios recovery program kick in twice for no reason as well on a warm boot.
Now these are things I've tried to see if it would fix it without any luck so far:
Taken the board out of the case to see if it was a grounding issue.
Reseating the CPU. Tried 2 different Heatsinks as well. Also checked to make sure the heatsink wasn't screwed in too tight as well.
Memtest86 the ram for a couple cycles. No errors, memory is fine.
Tried each stick of ram by itself in Slot 1.
More voltage to the ram.
No USB or SATA drives connected.
Different PSU used.
Complete CMOS reset without a battery in it for awhile.
Flashed Bios F6 and the beta F7 with Q-flash in the BIOS menu.
If someone has an idea what could be causing it i'm all ears. Altho I'm ready to chalk this one up to being a bad board and RMA it.
