  • GA-MA790FXT-UD5P Gigabyte Sata2 problem

    Hi everyone
Just bought this GA-MA790FXT-UD5P from Gigabyte. It has 10sata ports:)...or has it only got 6ports?
    My problems with this mobo:
The sata ports(6 blue) from AMD work just fine but the ports for Gigabyte(4 white) does not! I have tried 10sata disks with no luck and it is always the gigbyte sata that fails. All my disks work! All the disks on AMD sata shows up in Windows but never on the port from Gigabyte. I can see that sometimes during boot, I can see one or maybe two disks but not all four on the Gigabyte ports.

Can these ports from Gigabyte be used as singel channels or as backup only? I don't use PATA disks or rom! But I want to use all my disks but can I do that on this mobo? In other words: Does this mobo support 10 SATA disks?

    Mobo settings (Integrated peripherals):
    Onchip IDE Channel: Disabled
    Onchip SATA type: AHCI
Onchip SATA Port4/5 type: As SATA type
    Onboard SATA/IDE device: Enabled
    Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl mode: AHCI

Windows fix: I did a windows register fix to get AHCI support and then I installed AMD AHCI drivers. If I didn't do this fix windows would not boot.

    Gigabyte MOBO bios: F8C
    Gigabyte SATA bios: 1.06.59
    AMD SATA bios: 3.0.1540.59

Hi I can't offer much on this. Did you double check bios settings, RAID settings, and Windows drivers and check Disk Managment? Fix Missing Hard Drive Partition of Windows XP Vista in Windows 7 Below I have provided a PDF of your motherboard Manual. Give it a little time to download. http://download.gigabyte.ru/manual/m...fxt-ud5p_e.pdf
(Note 3) A JMB322 chip supports two SATA 3Gb/s connectors, so the four SATA 3Gb/s connectors are
divided into to two pairs: GSATA2_0 and GSATA2_1 as a pair and GSATA2_2 and GSATA2_3 as a pair. (Refer to Chapter 2, "Integrated Peripherals" and Chapter 5, "Configuring SATA Hard
Drive(s)," for how to enable the Smart Backup function.)
