  • Memory problems (4/6/8GB) in EP-45-DS3LR

    Hi.

I've got 2x2GB (Kingstone VR 800MHz CL5) in Dual Channel. I've bought another 2x2GB same brand, same type. And heere we go : after inserting two other sticks, computer kept restarting ith blank screen. I've pulled them out - on my old 2x2GB also same thing. I've tryied everything - matching them with one and other : no luck. One more thing : every stick works fine when put in DDR 0 slot alone. Any ideas?

Doesn't work in any other. But I've had those 2x2GB in DDR 0 and DDR 2 slots for over a year and everything was fine.

I can only assime something broke when you inserted the new sticks, you would have to take the board out the case look for physical damage.

There's nothing to break there. Funny - I've managed to launch it with my old 2x2GB's. But after inserting another 2x2 - same thing and back to 1x2GB

I need a link to your exact memory, or the model #, before I can advise.

You can use 8GB but you are going to need to make several changes. I doubt anything is broke, you just need to make some changes before you insert the extra 4GB

Kingston Technology Company - Kingston Memory Search - Search Results for: KVR800D2N5/2G

2x2GB worked fine with all settings to AUTO. I've tryied MCH v +0.1 - no luck...

Re: Memory problems (4/6/8GB) in EP-45-DS3LR

I know what the problem is, a few of them. Do you still want my advice, or not? No reason to act like that becuase your reply took a day or so, this forum is a very busy place.

You need to set your ram voltage, increase MCH to 1.24-1.32, and some other changes as well. Nothing wrong with your board or Gigabyte, you just need the right settings is all and a board from ANY manufacturer would need these changes for 8GB.

Let me know if you want further help, if so I will give you settings, if not no point in me posting them if you are not going to use them.
