  • Endless restart with bluetooth dongle (EP-45 UD3L)

    Hi,

I had no problem with EP-45 UD3L until I plugged in bluetooth dongle.
With the bluetooth dongle in USB, my PC keeps rebooting after memory check.
It's weird. Without the device, I have no problem.
I tried with the following two but have problem with both of them.
IOGEAR GBU421 USB 2.1 Bluetooth Micro Adapter
    BELKIN F8T016 Mini Bluetooth Adapter

I'm using the latest BIOS, ver F9.
    CPU: E7500
    Memory: Kingston HyperX 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
    (Timing Reference: 5-5-5-18 at +1.8V)
    PSU: Seasonic 350W
    Video: GIGABYTE GV-N84S-512I GeForce 8400 GS 512MB

Could you give me some advice?

    Thanks,

Both cause the same reboot loop? No issue with other USB Devices? Same with front and back USB ports?

Do you have USB Legacy and USB Storage Detect enabled in the BIOS? It is in the Integrated Peripherals Section of the BIOS.

You must also be sure you have USB Controller and USB 2.0 enabled as well.

Are you starting with Optimized Defaults in the BIOS and not Fail Safe? If not you must, please load Optimized Defaults and save/apply/reboot back tot he BIOS and make all your changes again.

Thanks for your advices, Chike and Lsdmeasap.

I tried all of them but still have problem.
I tried with front and backend USB ports.
All options in BIOS (USB 2.0, USB STORAGE, etc) are enabled.
I started from Optimized Defaults and set BIOS again.

        I found another strange thing.
When I remove USB keyboard and start with the bluetooth dongle only in the USB port, PC starts up without repeating reboot SOMETIMES (not always).
Now, I suspect the problem is with the motherboard.

Try to set ICH IO 1.55v in M.I.T.

From your testing it sounds more like the Keyboard is the issue rather than the bluetooth dongle, correct? Can you test and verify?

Some USB devices just do not work with all motherboards, nothing you can do and it is not a "motherboard issue" so to speak really but just a incompatibility issue more than anything else.

You can also try with the setting I mentioned above, disabled instead of enabled. Disable the Legacy/Storage USB Setting and see if that helps, this will cause your keyboard to not work in DOS/Boot Menu Choices Screen, ect, but it will be fine in windows. This sometimes helps with booting issues caused by USB Devices hanging on device scan at startup.
