  • Please help - MB: GA-X58A-UD7 + CPU: Intel i7-920 get sudden restarts

    Hi,
I am using Windows 7 64bit and my configuration is:

    Code:
    MB: GA-X58A-UD7
    CPU: Intel i7-920
    VIDEO: Sparkle GeForce GT 220
    MEMORY: Kingston 3x2GB 1600
    HDD: 2xBarracuda 7200.12 SATA 3Gb/s 500GB Hard Drive
All my drivers are up to date. The problem is that around every ~40 min my computer is restarting.
When I start playing a game for example Assassin's Creed after the first ~15-20 min the game freeze and I have to restart. Could someone help me?

what cpu voltage, dram voltage and qpi/vtt voltages are you using? have you set your ram timings manually in the bios?

      The voltages are:

      QPI/VTT voltage - 1.15V
      DRAM voltage - 1.5V
      CPU voltage - 1.28

and the ram timings are not changed.

QPI/VTT voltage - 1.15V<--- set to 1.30000v in the bios
DRAM voltage - 1.5V<--- keep this according to spec or 1.66 in the bios
CPU voltage - 1.28<---- keep this on normal setting

^^ try with those voltages 1.15 isnt enough for qpi/vtt use 1.3v,go into your ram timings and type them in manually according to your ram for example 8-8-8-24-command rate 1T

Also please link us to your exact memory kit, or give the model number in case we still need to further advise you.

Re: Please help - MB: GA-X58A-UD7 + CPU: Intel i7-920 get sudden restarts

This memory is rated 1.7-1.9V and is not made for i7 boards.

                Datasheet here
Kingston Technology Company - Kingston Memory Search - Search Results for: KHX1600C9D3/2G

I suggest you buy a new kit rated at 1.65, although you can use 1.7-1.8V memory voltage it's not very safe. What you can try is running them at 1333Mhz for now using 1.66V dram voltage and 1.25-1.35 QPI/Vtt

Perhaps it is the power supply. Every time one of mine goes south it has the same symtom.

That could be, but I really think the issue is with his memory since this is a high rated (Voltage) kit and not made for this type of board

If I buy a new one which one of these two is better:

                      KHX1600C9D3K3/6GX
                      3xKVR1066D3N7

It may just not be compatible, even with the settings I suggested to try. Those were just a guess at what "might" work, I am not surprised they didn't.

These would be much better KHX1600C9D3K3/6GX

Or if you want link me to the memory section of your online store you like and I will have a look around for you. If you do that tell me how much money you want to spend
