    Re: New Goal: 4.2ghz q9550 + ep45-ud3p + 8gb g.skill pi black pc2-6400

Thx for sharing guys :) again i say this forum is awesome.... mmm i dont now too why my Gflop is so low? is it too hot for my procie or timing ram is not good enough, later i will try to buy Gskill F2 pc9600 CL6D 4G so at 4.2ghz ram will runs 1200mhz, hope it can boost myprocie :)
@mm67---> Thx for sharing bro, great oc :) btw try run with same ram like mine 942mhz maybe Gflops will drop like mine hehe.
@Exius---> Thx bro :) for 4.2ghz i use fan delta 3.8mm 0.35A for push and coolermaster fan 2000rpm 90cfm as a pull.... but for 4ghz and 3.8ghz i use only single coolermaster fan 2000rpm 90cfm....btw exius, i live in indonesia (bandung city) so temp is quiet hot than your place ^_^ except in midnight, better temp than daylight hehe.

@profjim---> is true that if i let setting to 4 threads then Gflops score is not high as auto setting? ok i will try later profjim :) thx for the advice prof :)

In that case, you definitely are more capable to get the OC higher. I bet if you lived where I am, you can even do 4.5ghz.

So why choose Delta fan for the push? it seems to have much lesser CFM than the Coolermaster. i'd personally put the stronger one on the push as it's more effective.

I think fan delta is more powerful than coolermaster fan because its big, 3.8cm, cm fan only standard 2.5cm so the blade on delta fan is big :) i think so, but later i will try buy Silverstone fan FM121 like mm67 has... is it powerful??
i have friend in CHIP forum indonesia, his id-name is Gaul and his rig is just like mm67, he can hit 4.4ghz with vcore 1.325v... wow gold chip i guess ^_^

I don't think that Silverstone fan will do you any good, that Delta has more power. I actually run watercooled nowadays, temps are really nice now. I just did some benching on an old E6300 and temps at 3.5 GHz look like this:

Considering the 90% overclock I'd say that those temps are pretty good.

I just tried running at 4 and 3.8 GHz with similar memory and IBT settings as you and my cpu still pulls about 2 Gflops more. At slower speeds even our temps are quite similar so it can't be that either, I don't get it :)

Thx for sharing mm67 :) wow i see watercooling really pushing the heat of cpu perhaps 10c or more than aircooling ... wish i had one ^_^
i'm doing some investigation for 4ghz, look at my earlier post up there, Gflops in IBT 4ghz is 50 right? sometimes 51 ... so i raise vtt to 1.32v then Glops raise to 52 :) stabil 30loop... only once drop to 51 Gflop.... tested 3dmark2006 cpu score raise from 5700 to 5900 :) later i will try on 4.2ghz or 3.8ghz.
But i still dont understand my friend have Q9550 4ghz with FSB:DRAM 1:1 which is 471:471 then he got cpu score in 3dmark2006 really big like 6500 .... do you get cpu score like that mm67??

Btw your ET6 with Q9550 4ghz has VTT 1.24v is it ok? its lower than mine..... and MCH is 1.4v is that ok? i think its too high...... also ur 3.8ghz MCH is also 1.4v, its too high i guess.... correct me if i'm wrong & sorry for many questions coz i'm still learning here :)

I get similar CPU score as you but you also seem to be running Windows 7. If your friend is running XP then he probably gets higher CPU score because of that. MCH voltage doesn't matter much to me since Northbridge is now also watercooled, I just use something that is enough for any kind of fsb.

Oww yup i guess different os makes different cpu score points :) right ... thx mm67..... btw i've been researching again and got these result :

                  Uploaded with ImageShack.us

My Gflops (3.8ghz) now seem stabilize at 50.8000 almost 51.0000 still abit lower than yours ^_^

Now here my Gflops for 4ghz not stabilize, but mostly scores are at 52.0000 :

                  Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I found stablize Gflops at 3.8ghz after i set Static Tread value 8 on bios ^_^ sorry i forgot to set that before for mch latch 333mhz spd 2.40B .... but for 4ghz doesnt stabilze enough although i set Static Tread value to 9 for mch latch 400mhz spd 2.00D .... what mostly stabil for static tread value? 10 11 12?

Exius, how are ur procie doing? any stable yet? i found max stable with abit higher volts setting with this :

                    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Seems like my speed Gflops is higher than with standard level 10loops which is stable at 52 Gflops, later i will post it, why is that? is it normal?
Btw ET6 doesnt display correctly, i set in bios VTT 1.32 volt and MCH auto... but it shows VTT 1.3 volt and MCH 1.3 volt, surely MCH is not 1.3 volt bcoz when i test with MCH 1.3v didnt survive in first loop of IBT with max stress level.... then i tried to up until 1.36v for MCH then passed IBT 20 loop max level.... i guess higher MCH gives more stability almost like mm67's setting :)

                      Hey Exius

I dont know if you are still at it ,but i was recently testing my black pI with 4g of samsung 667 memory (8g total)
The best I could manage stable was 440mhz cpu ref 880.with low vlt on cpu and mch, like 1.31 and 1.22(mch) I dont really need the 8g and the speed drop is too much, but it was fun to see what cheap memory would do.

Hi fsb/cpu clocks are very memory dependent I mean very dependent on brand type even.

The 6400 black pI ,ive been testing /using 4 g for a long time.
When I bought them,2 years ago ,i read a lot of reviews etc,and they really dont like to go much above 1000 mhz.Ive found that to be true.

I dont mean 2000mhz fsb i mean on any multiplier they dont like above 1000 ddr2 memory speed without hi voltage and even then thats only good for another 20mhz or so.
You can run them(on our gig boards at 445-450(900)
with the 4-4-4-12 and reasonably tight timing at 2.16v.Above 450 u have to go 5-5-5-15.

490(cpu ref)1960 fsb seems a sweet spot with pl9 trfc low 50's etc. .nothing too high on memory v,cpu or mch(mch might seem hi but ive used that v for years.)
The 500cpu ref while still v stable needs a good voltage bump and temps are higher.

Youre looking for 4.2 on 8.5 multiplier which is just around 494-495 cpu ref.

Try my bios settings if u like with just 4g in..the 490 ones were tested at 494 or so for headroom.
If that goes ok try the 500 ones.

The you come to the 8g problem.
it could be that my 500 cpu ref ,2000 fsb bios setting will get you stable at 494-495 with 8G loaded.

Wow @kick manage to get stable on 8gig of ram? thats great :) i think its more difficult overclocking with more than 4gig of ram, dont u think? with mch 1.22v is it stable? i found unstable when using IBT max ram test for 20loop and so i have to rise mch voltage almost near like @mm67 mch setting ... but later i will do re-test again for low mch volt :)

Hmmm i found instability again with vtt 1.32v ... increase to 1.34v then stable for now :) Gflops more steady now... and ET6 does read correct value when i set VTT to 1.34v in bios also ET6 reads correct value when i set MCH to 1.36v in bios.

Have you tried running 8 * 500, that seems to be bit faster than 8.5 * 471.

Hai ben charm nice oc with FSB 500 for ur Q9550 C1 stepping :) i didnt realize EO stepping is more lower vcore to use in overclocking, i just bought it from myfriend without see it was EO stepping ^^
@mm67---> is it fast on 500x8?? later i will try bro :)
btw this is my test FSB 500, weird my voltages are so high ... not like mm67 :( i guess i need to re-test again to find lowest voltages.
