  • Need advice on buying memory and cooler for GIGABYTE EP45T-USB3P and Core 2 DUO E8400

Hi everyone, I have a EP45T-USB3P and a Core 2 DUO E8400 that I will be putting together.

Before buying the memory DDR3, cooler and PSU, I would like some advice or recommendations on what to buy. I am thinking of 6GB for the memory.

Will be running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

    Thanks a bunch !

6GB memory, or mainly 1.65V memory, was not made for that chipset, ideally you want 1.7-1.8V memory.

The 1.65v P55/X58 sets may or may not work for you, but it's often hard to get stable due to not being made for P45, and often 1600Mhz is not easy to run either.

So just keep that in mind when looking, and it would be ideal for you to get 4GB or 8GB instead of 6GB too.

If you need some direct suggestions, link us to your favorite store and we'll have a look.

canuck, G.skill suggested I use F3-12800CL7Q-8GBECO - This RAM was very easy to get stable on the EP45T-USB3P board. This RAM is designed for the LGA 1156 Board but works great On the LGA 775. I used it with Q9650 and E8600 on this board with no issues. If need be I'll show where G.Skill suggested this RAM for this board. Theres other guys in this forum that use the same MOBO and RAM that I helped get stable. (template) They couldn't believe how easy they got their RIG's stable. That's my 2 cents worth. wibujo

PS. My brother has that RIG now and has had no issues whatsoever - it has the Q9650 on it.

The Patriot PV234G1600LLk Viper 2 series were tested for P35,P45,X38,X48 Intel chipsets. You should only use 2x2gig or 4x2gig sticks in configuration, not to exceed 1600mhz with 8gig.The memory sticks in my signature were designed for 790 nivida chipset, and run great at 1700mhz/ 1.95volt.

Thanks guys for the info. Here's my favorite store that I do shopping on:

NCIX.ca is Canada's Computer Parts & Home Goods online warehouse. We promise the best selection and the best prices!

For overclocking purpose maybe I should stay with 4GB of DDR instead of 8GB ?

Anyways, all i need is some suggestions for the DDR and cooler and PSU from the above link webstore.

          Thanks
