Ati driver crashing on GA-MA790X-UD3P rev 1.1

Here is one more mistery to solve im on this for a week or so.

Driver is crashing with message "Display driver has stopped responding"(windows 7 x86)


This happens in plain windows (also without driver) but more offen when runing flash content.



Components are......
Sapphire Ati radeon 3870 512 MB.
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD3P(latest bios)
CPU AMD 7850+
KINGMAX 2X2GB 1066MHZ
PSU Coolermaster 600W

Lets first eliminate hardware .......
1. PSU i tryed Tagan 1000w, Hyper type R 530W, Coolermaster 460w, Coolermaster 600w
2. 3870 works fine on Asus M4A78
3. 4650, 4870, 8800GT, work on gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD3P


Ideas please.

Did you update flash player and shockwave player yet? If not please do.

Also, please test your memory using Memtest86+ for 4 hours or while you sleep, to rule that out. Then run Prime95 in windows for at least 3-4 hours, just to be sure your system isn't otherwise unstable as this can cause ATI or any other driver to cause crashes or freezing.

Then if all good, try newer or older ATI Drivers as latest isn't always best

Flash is good also shockwave.

Memtest passed 8 cycles (passes) individual and dual channel also tryed corsair Takems Kingston.

Tryed drivers from 8.0 till newest with like 6 reinstalls of win (clean not unattended).

This board came from RMA(service care) bought it for like 25$ its posibly faulty in some way but works with 4870.

Didnt run prime95 but will when i get the time.

Hmm, well for $25 that's a good deal you can't complain about. How did you buy RMA boards for cheap?

Odd it would work with 4870, but not others? Is it ok with Nvidia?

I work in a IT shop(service department) and through our service channel we can buy boards that came from RMA (just board and back panel).

"4650, 4870, 8800GT, work on gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD3P"
