8GB is not a must, you can use 2x2GB if you want. It's actually easier to overclock the memory when you use 2x2GB

2133 will be stable if you buy new sticks meant for P67, the Trident were not so that may be why they give you troubles at 2133.

You can get 1600 or 2133 and either would be fine, if you are liking G.Skill they have many of the Ripjaw X kits that will work perfectly.

If I were you, and you don't need the 8GB, I'd go ahead and get a 2133 4GB kit from that lineup

Ok great so theres no problem with 2133 kits then, like not running at full speeds or having issues with that motherboard. i know they recommend 1600 but i see there is that there is specific made ram for the 2nd gen intel chips

        Re: Memory Possibilities on GA-P67A-UD3-B3

Ya, there's nothing wrong with 2133 kits made for P67 setups. There is just some issues with older P55/X58 memory in some instances, like some Hyper based memory will not run 2133 no matter what.

But you'll be fine if you buy a new P67 designed 2133 kit

          Re: Memory Possibilities on GA-P67A-UD3-B3

I've ordered and received all my parts. I put the PC together 2 days ago and everything seems to be working like a charm. My Ripjaws barely clear under my V6GT CPU cooler, so that's good. The V6GT barely fits in this case though, but does. The G.Skill memory is running at 2133 with minimal bios tweaking and I have the CPU up to 4.1GHz right now thanks to Gigabytes Easytune6. I stress tested the CPU and Memory using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and it passed without incident. Here are my current parts:

          MB GIGABYTE|GA-P67A-UD3-B3 P67 R
          MEM 2Gx2|GSKILL F3-17000CL9D-4GBXL
          CPU INTEL|CORE I7 2600K 3.4G 8M R
          VGA GIGABYTE|GV-N480SO-15I GTX480 R
          Cooler Master V6GT 220-Watt CPU Cooler RR-V6GT-22PK-R1
Cooler Master 120mm Blue LED Case Fan - (R4-L2R-20AC-GP)
          CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V
COOLER MASTER Elite 430 RC-430-KWN1 Black Steel / Plastic Computer Case

I like the fact that the Memory got a 7.9 in the Windows 7 Experience Index. The rest of the stuff was either 7.5 or 7.6 except for my HD that I didn't upgrade. It's keeping me back at 5.9. I'm waiting to see how the HD technology progresses. Thanks all you tweakers for your help.

          Matt - Happy PC User

Glad to hear you got everything up and running...

You stated you are running 4.1ghz using ET6? It is highly suggeted that you do all your overclocking in the bios not in windows. ET6 is really only usfull for see or showing bios settings. Write down the voltages you see listed in ET6 under the Tuner tab, click the Advanced button then Voltage 1 tab.

If you need any further help getting stable or want to push it further post back any time.

If you want HDD score in WEI to be above 5.9 you need SSD :)

And as mentioned above, you should overclock in the BIOS not with Easytune. If your temps are good you should be able to easily run 4.5Ghz or above.
