Re: X58A-UD3R CPU Support plz help
I cant say for sure Maybe LSD or someone else can say for sure but im gonna say probably not because of the 2 qpi lanes vers 1 qpi lane that all the i7-9xx uses along with the xeon w3xxx uses.
If you already have the cpu you may needed to use a i7-920 first and make sure motherboard is upateded to the latest bios.Main Rig

Re: X58A-UD3R CPU Support plz help
btw that temps are with what heatsink? Temps and voltage needed to go to 3,8ghz seen awfull high. I was plannin to build the pc with that processor cause 1st i can find it very cheap and 2nd it uses 32nm built process so i thought it would require less voltage and generate less heat that i7-920 for example
PS. LSD iv sent you a pm about a bios mod request

That was from a random forum, so not sure could be stock? You could join and ask the user
[Feeler] Xeon E5620 - LGA 1366
More temps here, see post #30
E5620 owners. - Page 3 - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net
In general yes, they are cooler than the older 45nm CPU's.
How cheap you finding these?

Re: X58A-UD3R CPU Support plz help
I've had i7 920 , 950 and E5620 in X58A-UD3R ver 2.0 ( my home rig ) and got rid of the 920 and 950 and kept the Xeon because it runs cooler at same clocks air-cooling with Zalman CNPS10X Flex with push/pull . I had hassles getting the Xeon to work till I installed beta bios FF2 , and , with 950 installed manually set QPI bus and uncore and memory to lowest multi and cpu multi set to 16 . Voila! .
Quite funny - that other thread was also me selling one of 3 Xeons - picked 'em up really cheap , new , sealed in IBM boxes with passive low-profile cooler . Still got 2 of them , one I'm using , and one spare .
