  • Intel 320 Series SSD on Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Benchmarks

Since i havent found any benchmarks of Intel 320 SSD 80GB over the internet i would like to share some screenshots how the disks perform in Raid 0 on Gigabyte X58A-UD3R (ICH10R)

The Stripe Size is 16k as recommended from Intel when using 2x SSD on Raid 0
Im using the latest RST Drivers and latest Option ROM From Intel (ty to LSD for modified Bios)
The system was in normal state with C1E Enabled (No overclocking at all)

    Imageshack - intel320r0.jpg

And thats the performance of the latest version of Vertex 2 in Raid 0 on Same System:

P.S Forgot to mention that OCZ are the Vertex 2 50GB With Part Number OCZSSD2-2VTX50G

Both Benchmarks were executed After Secure Erase the drives and right after Restore Of OS on them.
Overall Feeling at OS as Boot times and app loading etc seems the same for both disks with Intel Being alot lot faster while Restoring Operating System on them
Where OCZ Fails is when you trying to move files across other disks on Computer for example i also have a Raid 0 Array on same system with 4x Velociraptors.
With Intel im able to move Large ISOS there with 390mb /s while with OCZ it takes longer with average rate of 180mb/s
When im moving a game folder from Velociraptor Array to SSD Array with Intel it does with average 230mb/s and with OCZ 70mb/s

        Ahh ok, no problem!

So, you think the new ROM gives a boost or not? I never tested Vs. 10.x.x.1008 so I'm not sure

It does for raid 5 Performance. I was testing Raid 5 on my velociraptor Array and with stock ROM i was getting BSOD randomly when i was physically removing a disk from Array. But raid 5 perfomance is still crap so im still getting my backups to a WD RE4 2TB whioch i have it plugged on Marvell onboard Controller

Ahh, so you haven't tested RAID 0 at all yet?

And RAID 5 it only improves reliability, or speeds as well?

Raid 0 Performance is same it only improves reliability on raid 5

Ahh ok, thanks for your results on that as I never tested
