  • Z68-UD7 trouble with 2133Mhz Gskill RAM

    Hi.

I'm having trouble getting my RAM to run at the speed it should be capable of, using BIOS version F7d

    RAM is G.skill Ripjaws-X F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD (2133 9-11-9-28-2N) (G.SKILL-Products)

I've tried using the XMProfile, and also manually inputting the correct values in memory settings. I get BSOD's whenever I try running the RAM above 1866Mhz.

I've read that I should try increasing the VccSA value, however increasing the "System Agent", which I assume is VccSA, setting seems to have no effect on the BSOD's.

Anyone have any tips on what I could try to solve this problem?

Yes SA stands for system agent.
Try with VTT first if increasing it to around 1.2v is not enough try the VccSA.
Some say not to change VccSA but I've seen a few that has it set above specs.
The ax for VccSA according to the specs is 0.971v

Re: Z68-UD7 trouble with 2133Mhz Gskill RAM

My QPI/Vtt is on Auto, showing 1.050 as (I assume) default value. I've manually set DRAM voltage to 1.66 (seeing as I'm not able to pick the uneven number 1.65 which my RAM asks for).

Chike, do you mean if increasing VTT doesn't work, I should try increasing both VTT and VccSa at the same time or just VccSa?

Regarding VccSA, I've followed the recommendations of this OC guide
        Code:
        http://www.techreaction.net/2011/01/04/3-step-overclocking-guide--sandy-bridge-v0-1beta/
, which suggests using up to 1.2 at max, but usually 1.15 when using high speed RAM (which I assume I can call my RAM).

Re: Z68-UD7 trouble with 2133Mhz Gskill RAM

First increase QPI gradually, up to 1.2v, if that is not enough for stability try increasing VccSA.
The link you have posted leads to "Sorry, no posts matched your criteria", but 1.2 seems very high, I'd be causious with VccSA.
Use memtest86+ before you start windows, it's faster to boot, only if it comes without errors boot to windows.
Usually test #5 finds errors quickly. To run only test #5, press c, 1,3,5,enter,0.
In windows run an hour or 2 of Prime large FFT, then 8+ hours Prime95 blend.

Interesting the VTT(VCCIO) is not mentioned there.

Yes its normal on gigabyte boards to set 1.66v which will be 1.648v in windows, you might only need a slight increase to 1.080v depends on CPU,some don't like more than 1.14v you just need to test until stable but leaving it on auto won't be ad reliable/accurate as a manual setting
