You guys will see what system I'm running in my sig. Just the cpu is running stock and the 580 has now been replaced with the 6990
I recently upgraded from my gtx580 to a 6990.
The 6990 runs like a beast, but i'm thinking its being held back by the 3.2ghz cpu.I usually run at 4.5ghz day to day but when I entered my oc settings which I know is 100percent stable after putting the 6990 in, the system(bios) resets to default.
I've tried everything now. I can boot up go into the bios etc etc, but as soon as I change something(anything) and restart I get "your previous overclock has failed message".
I've gone into the bios and disable usb keyboard, mouse, usb storage(read on a forum online). It didnt help...
I've gone and disabled all powersavings and that didnt help...
I've even used default bios settings and restarted(that works fine), then I entered the bios and just "enabled" bclk overclocking(didnt overclock at all) and saving and restarting resulted in the same "fail overclocking message"...
Using another card works fine, and I know its not the PSU because I've run 3x580s on it just last week.
I'm going to test tomorrow with a more "lightweight" gts 450 and see if that changes anything.
I'm really bummed as I was really looking forward to the 6990.
Does anyone have any ideas or have had a similar problem?
