thanks guys, and my MB is still under warranty until this time 2013. I'm going to try other coolers and go from there.

    Vin

EDIT: on the warranty page it shows I should register my product, would it make the process of an RMA easier if I did? if so where do I register my MB. I looked on their site and didn't find it under the support section.

Where did you find the SN number for your board?

      See here http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...-warranty.html

Edit - Never mind I dug out the box it came in.

Re: Bent Pins on X58A-UD5... How did they get bent? Never removed the CPU since install over 2yrs ago.

I was able to get everything running with my H70 again, then once I had that I re-installed my CM 212 Evo and everything seemed fine, I ran Prime 95 for a few hours and and loaded temps never passed 70 degrees, so I thought I was out of the woods. Temps in Bios never pass 38 degrees.

Yesterday morning I started getting random/odd BSOD. so I then tried to re-install windows 7, during the point of the installation right before installation complete where it says installing updates, that hangs for about 10 minutes and then I get an error that the boot information could not be updated. from my reading this is a common issue when updating from Vista to Win7, but in my case this is a fresh install. I've used the windows installer to delete the partition, re-create the partition and format the drives and still the same error...

Running a 3 disk RAID 0, I took my Intel SSD's out (40GB X25-V) and have updated their FW. tonight I'l try re-installing the OS again. on the RAID, if that's a no-go I'll try setting the disks as IDE and just try 1 disk. if that isn't working I think I have no choice but to RMA the MB.

Through this process I have run memtest on my ram and that came out OK(Ran over night with no fails) , I have replaced my GTX580 with my 8800GTS-640MB. tonight it's trying different disk configuration.

if there is anything else to try, let me know.

How long does it take to run one full Memtest loop using tests 1 - 8?
Memtest is good at finding memory hardware errors or it will fail if your bios settings are not in the ballpark. It is not really a stress test.
I would run Memtest for about 1-3 hours followed by Prime95 Small FFT for 4 - 6 hours to stress your cpu.
If there are no small FFT errors, you can do a followup test using Large FFT's for 3 - 6 hours.
              Sometimes Prime95 won't fail until after 8 - 10 hours.

If Prime95 fails, let us know:
              • FFT size that failed
              • how long the test ran until the first failure occurred
              • cpu core temperatures from RealTemp or CoreTemp to show the maximum temperatures for each core

You can post a screenshot of all this information, where you position the displayed windows close together and you crop/remove the unneeded portion of the screen to produce more readable screen information. You can use the Attachments or Insert Image from a URL (e.g. file sharing web site) when you create your post using the Go Advanced posting option.

Memtest takes about 40minutes to get a pass, and I've run it overnight without any error's so I know that's good.

I've run the default Blended test for 4 hours last night and temps never raised past 63 degrees on all cores. I'll try the small test tonight.

Ran Small Tests for 6 hours last night and everything was fine and the average temp of all cores was 60 degrees.

Running large test right now and 4hrs in everything is fine and temps have gone no higher than 61-62 degrees across all cores, I'll let it run for an hour or two and then call it quits if everything is OK. I'm using both Real Temp and HWMonitor...

So since all this seems to be OK, tomorrow, I'll restore my bios settings to how everything was before this all happened. I was running a higher QPI Frequency and forced my Multi to 21. right not I have Turbo Mode disabled.

I'll be sure to save the current setting in case everything takes a poop.

My issue has returned... I am at a loss and getting frustrated.... I found the RMA section of the site here; RMA

or should I open a support ticket with technical support first and wait for them to tell me to open an RMA ticket?

Or is pointing to this thread going to be enough?

                        let me know your thoughts...

                          Which specific problems? BSOD's?
Have there been any recent changes to your system?
Which cpu cooler is installed? Is it still secure?

Assume the worst when it comes to understanding language when dealing with tech support.
Avoid using a long narrative description, such as "first thing I did was this and got an error so I then changed the doohickey and also....".
Use short but descriptive language that is logically ordered.
A numbered list might work best.

Many have complained that they received a "canned" response from tech support, possibly because the information wasn't in a clear, well organized format.

Same BSOD as before, I verified that the cooler was still tight, don't want to take it off because of the past problems. I'm still using the Cooler Master Evo 212. Temps have slowly been climbing and I've been cleaning the cooler monthly.

Thanks from the note, should I contact support first or just go straight to an RMA form?

there is an f8b beta bios out for that board, seems strange for it to raise its ugly head again

I thought of that too, I don't like using Beta bios's F6 was the last "Official" bios, what I also don't like is the fact there is not description or improvement listed for F8A. When this first happened I did try going back to F5, then F3 then back to F6 as nothing made a difference.

That's why I was leaning to something else.
