  • GA-Z77X-UD5H and Logitech 520 Wireless KB and Mouse

Has anybody figured out how to make the BIOS on this MB allow one to enter setup with the Logitech 520 USB Wireless Keyboard and Mouse? W7 works OK but pressing the "Del" key during boot up has no effect on the BIOS. When I connect an "old" Wireless USB Microsoft Mouse (Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0) and an old USB Keyboard (Microsoft 600) the BIOS is happy and lets me enter setup via the Del key. This has been a problem with this MB/BIOS since day one and I've done at least 3 BIOS updates. I keep hoping the problem will get resolved one of these days. Just in case your going to ask, yes the Logitech KB and Mouse work just fine on an ASUS system so I don't think it is a Logitech problem. On the other hand, if something gets in your way in the modern computer world go around it - has someone got a different version of the Logitech Wireless KB and Mouse that works on this MB, I'll go buy it! Thanks in advance.

I answered my own question - if I plug the Logitech USB sender into the USB port on the back of the MB everything works as advertised. There must be some issue using the USB 2.0 ports on the Corsair 600T case which are plugged into F_USB1 and F_USB2 connectors on the MB. Problem solved - sort of.

Some keyboards just dont work in the bios, mustly wireless keyboards have issues. You can try other usb ports but other then that if it does not work to enter or work in the bios you would need to contact Gigabyte directly let the know and see if they can get it working for you. You can contact gigabyte here GIGABYTE

Consider yourself a lucky one. I have been through this mill with Gigabyte support and they claim to be working on it. They also made a statement that there are more than one type of USB hub on the board so they are not all equal. Sheesh!

Maybe I'm not so lucky after all. I got my first ever BSOD on this system for whatever reason this morning after leaving the wireless Logitech 520 mouse and keyboard connected for less than 24 hours. I'm back to the "old" keyboard and mouse. I really don't see how this could cause W7 to BSOD but I have not changed anything else.

Using a different usb port might make a difference.

I keep hearing folks recommend using different USB ports and am depressed because for my money all the ports should work equally as well as one another. UGH! It should be more like, try an different motherboard eh?

Re: GA-Z77X-UD5H and Logitech 520 Wireless KB and Mouse

Of course they should all work the same!!
And everything else should work perfectly all of the time.
I don't know if the workaround will help with the wireless keyboard and mouse, but the fact is there probably will be some hardware compatibility issues forever and ever.

In the thread that I linked to, the System Requirements web page said:
Windows users running a computer with an Intel Core i-series chipset, please check here.
where they provided the workaround. With the hardware setup in that thread, it sounds like every windows/i3/i5/i7 setup will have a problem with some or all usb ports.

Think how boring life would be if everything worked perfectly all of the time.
I wouldn't mind trying it out for a couple of decades.

Re: GA-Z77X-UD5H and Logitech 520 Wireless KB and Mouse

I made the mistake of calling Gigabyte Technical Support. I tried to explain to him (American Group with very broken English) that I have two GA-Z77X-UD5H MB's, one with a 3570K processor and one with a 2600K processor and both of them have problems with wireless Logitech 520 Mice and Keyboards. He "explained" to me several times that Gigabyte only supports wired mice and keyboards with this MB!!! Absolute stonewall. Oh well, at least everything else works a whole lot better on the Gigabyte Boards that my old ASUS P8Z68-V Pro MB - it's now shelfware. Maybe its just the Z77 chip and the Intel based USB 3.0 that makes the difference - it sure ain't the technical support line? One more time - has anybody stumbled into a wireless keyboard and mouse that works with this MB? I also saw somewhere that F8A fixed the problem for someone but my Gigabyte Technical Support person said no such thing existed!

^^I think that 2therock report that latest Beta BIOS F9q improve some wireless connectivity.

Also 2therock reported before (if I remember well),when he talking with Gigabyte Technical Support (USA?) and ask about the Beta BIOS's,which is regulary posted here, that this BIOS's not exist, haha.

Yes, I saw the post by 2therock after I posted on this thread. I'll give F9q a try. Acebmxer, it's good to know that there is at least one Logitech wireless KB and Mouse that works with this MB. As a last resort I'll try one and verify that it works on a UD5H with BIOS version F7. It must be the miniature USB sending unit on the K520 that Gigabyte does not like?!

Re: GA-Z77X-UD5H and Logitech 520 Wireless KB and Mouse

Yes, it works. I have been experimenting across all the USB ports, If I was doing this on my old Chevy 327 the starter would be trashed. Cutting through the Chase, on the Logitech K350, have your USB transmitter as close as you can. You don't have to remodel your desk, just don't get careless.
The testing or trials I do are the same as always, USB transmitter wired to case ports first, then board ports being 2.0 & 3.0 on all. Then I plug the transmitter directly into all the same ports, then I lean the keyboard next to the transmitter. In all the BIOS files I have tried other than F9q it never let me into BIOS.

Out of at least two dozen boots F9q has failed only once plugged into a case 2.0 port and this was with the transmitter in the USB cable socket as far away from the keyboard as I could get it.

To keep the clutter down I now have the receiver cable in the USB 2.0 port over the Intel NIC. It just so happens the receiver is 6" from the board as always.

One of the things the Gigabyte tech said was to try tapping the delete key instead of holding it down. He noted in some cases holding it down before it gets activated will not let it acknowledge? I always tap from the old days but have tried both.

So far so good. I just updated BIOS to F9q and it appears like my Logitech K520 KB and Mouse work in the BIOS and in W7. I have the sending unit plugged into one of the USB 2 ports in the back of the MB. I have not tried moving it around - I just darn happy that it works where it is!! I did have some trouble with the BIOS update - I had to plug the USB thumb drive with F9q in one of the USB 3 ports on the back of the MB in order for the BIOS (F7) to recognize it for flashing. Also, I had the "usual" BIOS issue of not recognizing the SSD boot drive the second time I did a cold reboot. I'm not sure what cause this but I had a similar issue with an ASUS MB. It's almost like the BIOS gets wrapped up doing it's thing with all the changes and misses the SSD.
