  • Mobo Help GA-EX58-UD3R 1.6 Bootin up... weird

Hello All, after scouring the forums.. I am getting to a point where I think I might have to get a new mobo.

Had for a few years in a box not used a GA-EX58-UD3R 1.6 Rev FI Bios number. Decided to start building today. (Not a novice, and still read the guide here) Spare machine building for Brother. (Bought processor a while ago too Retail not OEM)

    Added:
    Intel 950 i7
    EVGA 8800GT 640MB ( Evga 260 Ti)
    Coarsair TR3X6G1333C9 9-9-9-24 1333 1.5v 3x2GB
520 Corsair power supp with 12v (and a Antec earthwats 600 with 12v)

So.. for the longest time, it would power up.. and no screen. CPU fan running/Case Fans/Vid card fans at full bore.

Started Puling things out. So far as to have the mobo running not in the case. one mem stick in DIMM 0...(Next to CPU) and I was able to see the post screens only when I hooked up to a monitor via VGA vs DVI. But, the Giga pic during post had those typical streaks you see when vid card going bad down the right side along with getting into BIOS some of the text was garbled with other ASCII like symbols (effecting most text in a vertical row). So swapped to 260 TI.. no change.

Loaded Optimal and Fail safe.. no change. Changed Power Supp.. nope. tried to manually enter Mem timing modes.. no change.

Can not update Flash, to the latest FK, states its size is different .. This one drives me nuts. (Using Qflash via thumbstick fat32) (reset CMOS as well via battery pull)

I can work on getting a screen shot if someone really would like to see. These 1366 mobos ain't cheap.. and do not wish to drop coin ntil most ppl think I am fubared.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

    Thank you

    ML

you wont be able to update the newer bios's due to the size, for those you have to do a one off update with @bios,then you can go back to flashing with qflash, try and post a screenshot if you can,can you get into the bios at all?

could be worthwhile leaving it run for a while just to fully warm up,could be damp due to standing for a long time, give the chance for the cmos battery to be charged also

Thx for quick reply.. but the files size issues is based of using Qflash.. @Bios is their windows tool yes? (Not even close to having the thing run yet) Still will work on getting a pic uploaded.

yeah @bios is windows based, its due to qflash not supporting the larger bios files untill its updated with @bios,then qflash will work

if it hasnt been run for a long time it could be damp thats in the components or a drained cmos battery,id let it run a good half hour just to see if the garbled screens correct themselves and give the board a chance to warm up

they might not charge you for repair,it depends really on who you manage to speak to

you say it doesnt display on dvi port? tried gpu in the other pci-e slot? left kb/mouse unplugged? and try a longer overnight cmos/battery removal

could try reflashing to the last bios that will flash, and try a new cmos battery
