what does atto benchamark say? those ports use the poorer early marvell controlled ports,to see true vertex 4 speeds you need an ivy bridge or sandy bridge motherboard with intel sata3 ports, but those figures arnt too bad

I did some testing on my X58A-UD5. although I never got the SATA III speeds I wanted from the Marvel (white) ports with a SATA III SSD, I found that I actually had better speeds and overall performance from the Intel ICH10R (Blue) Ports.

for giggles with that OCZ (I was using an Intel 330) try the intel port and see how you make out.

I was just testing a drive for a family member. but I did ATTO and AS SSD and the Sata2 port had given me just short of 300MB Read and Write... but the SATA3 port had given me about 325 read and only just over 200 Write...

so I had found better performance on SATA 2. but again that was with an Intel 330 128GB. your Vertex 4 may have a different outcome. but as stated earlier, the early Marvell Controllers really bite.
