  • BSOD code 124 during win7 installation

I have been stuck with this issue for a few days. I just replace my old HDD with a Mushkin Chronos SSD 120GB. Then, I cannot perform a clean install of win7. In fact, I cannot install any OS, tried win7/8, Fedora and Ubuntu, with both x86 and x64. On win7, I got bsod with code 0x00000124, during the "Expanding Windows File..." process. It can never get pass 6%. Most of the time it go to bsod at about 1%.

These are the fixes I tried, and still nothing:
    • ACHI, RAID and Native IDE
    • Change to another identical SSD
    • Ran MB + RAM test
    • I tried to load 3rd party ACHI and RAID drivers, but got an error saying "Installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unstable Windows installation".
    • Flash BIOS

Have no idea what to do next. The only issue I can think of right now is that the SSD isn't compatible with my mainboard. Any other thought?

Thanks, man. Though, I doubt that's the issue, because these same mobo/cpu/ram used to be on another power supply that got the same wattage as this one, 500W. Plus, the non-ssd drive works. I will try anyways though.

      Thanks!
