  • Z87x-UD5H won't enter sleep or shutdown clean.

I've tried this without any overclocking and the system tries to enter sleep, the keyboard/mouse etc shut off but I can hear the HDD's trying to spin down for about 10 seconds then the system just powers off. Next boot Windows reports and error and asks me to send details to MS.

Tested this with both F5 and F6e BIOS and still the same results.

    Any thoughts?

Re: Z87x-UD5H won't enter sleep or shutdown clean.

If there is a way to enable delayed start for your data drives, it would be worth a try to see if this setting has any effect on the "two step" hesitation when powering up your system.

Re: Z87x-UD5H won't enter sleep or shutdown clean. (SOLVED)

So utterly random, i've managed to solve both problems.

The sleep/shutdown issue was caused by having my raptors attached to the marvel controller. I'd like to try connecting another pair of drives to it to see if that has the same impact but unfortunately I don't have any spare at the moment but it's one for me to try when I upgrade my data mirror.

The 2 stage power up was bizarrely caused by a failed FaceWizard flash, i'd tried to set a image of the cast of the Big Bang theory which didn't work and just left the boot image blank (which was preferable to the ugly Gigabyte default one but hey ho). I reflashed F5 and the power up now occurs as it should.

Guess i'll be leaving the Facewizard stuff alone and keeping this board, saves me having to RMA it tho thankfully as so far i'm HUGELY impressed with my 1st Gigabyte board. The dual-bios feature alone is enough to make me love GB as I just can't leave stuff alone so it's nice having that as a backup should a flash go bad.

you just need time to allow drivers and bios's to catch up its usually the case with new platforms/chipsets
