Do you think I need to increase the DDR2 OverVoltage Control to +0.2V? or perhaps increase Static tRead Value to 8? My final guess would be to increase the vcore... What do you think?

      Not so fast hotshot.

      I suggest that you use 9 x 390MHz = 3.510GHz with your 5-5-5-18 memory settings with dram voltage = 1.90 volts.

Adjust your cpu vcore up as needed.

From post #235, it looks like you have already set ACP1 Suspend Type = S3 (STR), double check this setting.

If you really want to jump to 3.60GHz, that's up to you.

I was just about to say that I tried all of the methods I listed and the only one that worked was increasing the Static tRead Value to 8.

I will go back and adjust to the settings you recommend and report back!

I added a few settings which for some reason I had not been previously recording so I would ask if you could kindly scan through the above settings to see if any of the newly added settings are out of place.

If these settings cold boot then I will slowly increase the vcore and try again.

I think the system is failing to load - it POSTed but there is now a flickering underscore in the top left of the screen so I will restart and increase the vcore.

            • Re: Socket 771 Mod Xeon X5460 GA-P35-DS3L Overclock

If your system double booted, were the bios settings automatically reset to standard cpu speeds?
Sometimes a double boot after increasing cpu speed will not reset the bios to default speeds.
It never hurts after making any bios change to re-enter the bios and to make sure that your most recent changes are still applied.

At 401MHz your memory is operating at 802MHz so 1.9 volts should be adequate.

tRD = 7 should be adequate but your system has been finicky, it won't hurt to set tRD = 8 now.

There's a good chance that cpu vcore needs to be a bit higher, don't forget that you tried to o/c almost 200MHz higher.

Here we go again, more cross posting.

You currently have tRD = 7, not 8.

When (G)MCH OverVoltage Control is set too high or too low, your system often will not boot properly.

You might need to set cpu vcore higher.

Let the system cool for 10 mins then start another 6 hour HCi MemTest?

                            Sounds good to me.

Core temperatures in HWiNFO with TjMax = 100 are approaching 70o(C).
I don't know how much longer we will be able to run LinX.
Soon we might have to skip the LinX stress tests and rely on HCI Memtest along with some additional tests that don't raise core temperatures too high, we'll see.

                            Over and out.

Well I know it's only 2 hours in but I thought I would just ask what settings to try next if all goes successfully?

                                Fingers crossed it goes well!
