  • Albatron PX865PE Pro II

Just purchased a Albatron PX865PE ProII board and Pentium 4 2.4c. What a sweet board. It's got the lot - RAID (both SATA and IDE up to 6 drives), gigabit LAN, 24 bit (7.1 surround including digital out (both analog and optical), dual bios, USB2 (x8) Firewire - Feature wise there isn't much more you could want on a board.

But how does it perform? Well straight out of the box, i was able to bump up the FSB from the standard 800FSB to 1000FSB at the standard voltage - instant P4 3.0 ghz !! And I ran Prime 95 for 12 hours - this thing didn't miss a beat. And all on the stock Intel heatsink. Temps - Idle around 32c-34c and Load 38c-42c.

And the box advertises a FSB of 1200!! That turns my humple 2.4c into a Pentium 4 3.6ghz. Can't wait till the water cooling turns up...!!

Sounds great!! Keep us posted on how you do. What graphics card are you going to run?

I am running a ATI Raeon 9700 Pro. Got it jsut before the Albatron. I like it, but haven't had played with the settings much. It generates a fair bit of heat into the case. Currently the case temp is 25c and the CPU is 30c (o/c @3.0ghz and standard fan). I think the 9700 is adding about 5c to the case...

You just need to keep the air flowing through the case. That seems a little steep, I doupt the video card is increasing the case temp that much since it's only barely above room temp (unless you live in an igloo;) ) . In any case (no pun intended) you're temperatures seem pretty cool.

        Let's see some benchmarks. :D

I've heard good things about the OC'ability of the P4"C" chips - I haven't had a chance to play with mine just yet - hopefully on the weekend I will
....no water cooling here though, just a volcanoe7+

          - I'm also interested to see what the Radeon 9600 Pro will Oc to - there's a bit of hype surrounding them as well:D :D :D

            RDR

I will be interested to see how much of a real difference you see between the 9800 and 9600 Pro in both benchmarks and just look and feel i.e If 3dmark wasn't higher would you know?

After using a nForce board (Abit NF7-s) for some time, I must say I prefer the stability of the Intel chipset.

yes prime95 image shows cpuz reporting memory @230mhz 2-3-3-6 being pc2700 but it's 2x512mb xms3500c2 which have been wrongly programmed as pc2700 heh

The memory bandwidth score you got on pc mark 2002 is just sick, nothing other than a SICK score..! :wow:

Oh can't wait til I have my Asus P4P800 Deluxe and a Gb of Corsair.. :flames:

here's some 5:4 action with cheaper 2x 256mb ocz premier pc3500 memory which cost AUD$88/each

could load windows and run benchies at 270FSB/216MEM 2.5-7-4-4 but pcmark2002 rebooted.. (strange at 270FSB/216 cpuz doesn't report any memory info, do timings or what rated stick they are - at 267FSB/213mhz cpuz detects memory normally)
