  • Overclocking AMD Athalon XP and Nvidia GeForce FX5200

I'm planning on overclocking my processor and video card. Before I ask any questions, let me give you my system specs.

    - AMD Athalon XP 2400+
    - 512 MB DDR RAM
    - 2 - 40 GB HDs on FastTrack TX200 RAID controller
    - Nvidia GeForce FX5200 128MB AGP graphics card
    - Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro sound system
    - Thermaltake Xaser III case (2 front, 2 rear, 2 side, 1 top fan)[also, powe supply fan and processor fan]
    - Normal running temperature: 50C (123F)

With that info, how much could I safely overclock both my processor and video card without overheating my system and possibly damaging something?

Also, are there some, if any, guides on overclocking my kind of processor and video card? If not, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.

I had built the PC from scratch, and as money goes, I was slightly limited. Hence, a video card that doesn't exactly kick butt, but it's nice. Could it still be overclocked, though, or is it not even worth it?

2 256 MB DDR RAM sticks at 266 Mhz

      Mobo is Asus A7N8X-X.

Well for starters ya mobo is only a single channel memory job so ya should've on ly got 1 x 512MB stick of memory plus ya should of got PC3200 instead of the PC2700 ya got if ya planned on overclockin' but www.guru3d.com has plenty overclockin' utilities for ya video card.
