  • Need help to overclock. EP45-DS4 with E8400

Had my old EP35-DS4 running smoothly with a overclocked E8400.
    org. 3.0GHz (9x333) puched up to 3.6GHz (9x400)

So everything was fine until one day when my pc just died.
I tried everything, but the pc wouldn't start. Not even coming up to POST.
So i sent back the motherboard and they sent back a EP45-DS4P/DS4.

It's been a while since i clocked so i can't remember all stuff and i don't have that huge of freetime (have schoolwork thats needs to be done) at moment to settle down to read up about overclocking.
Tho also the BIOS is different from my old motherboard.

But i tried clocking with the little experience i have and came up with this:
    My memorysticks are: Corsair Dominator pc2-8500 1066mhz 2x2Gb (though CPU-Z says pc2-6400)

Have runned Prime95 v.25.9 build 4 for 40 min now without a single fail.
Tho i tested with FSB 356 MHz and Prime95 ended up giving me a bluescreen after 3min.

Please help me with my clocking
Yeah and also updated BIOS to F9

Found the solution to my problem.
Was my memorysticks that didn't work in the current slot, just stuck em in the other slots and it worked fine after that.
So currently my cpu is clocked to 4GHz (8x500)

Re: Need help to overclock. EP45-DS4 with E8400

DO NOT RUN THAT. Your CPU Termination and PLL is WAY WAY WAY to high. About 1.3v Termination should be enough for 500FSB (it was for me) and 1.57v PLL.
      CPU: Intel C2Q Q6600 G0 @ 3.2GHz W/ 1.184v (Max Overclock - 4.1GHz ON AIR)
      Mobo: Gigabyte EP45-UD3P (Max Overclock - 515FSB)
      RAM: CellShock 2GB PC2-8500 @ 1200MHz 5-5-5-15 (Max Overclock - 1300MHz 5-4-4-12)
      Video Card: Gainward HD4870 GS @ 775MHz/4000MHz (Max Overclock - 835MHz/1175MHz)
      Case: Antec 1200

Yeah well i changed that directly after your post, tho just some moments earlier i stuck in my other HDD...
And of course i forgot it had a virus on it deleting all .exe files, a real *******.
So it made my whole pc unstable so i had to go and delete all things and clearing BIOS also just in case of.
        *Sigh* so anoying....
So now i have just reinstalled most of the programs (firefox, winamp, winrar etc etc etc) updated all drivers and so on..
Goin away tomorrow and will be back on saturday to continue my oc.
Anyway, thanks for the info Fatguy. Won't make that misstake next time :p
