  • Gigabyte x58 UD5, 12GB RAM OC problem

    Rig is in my sig:

    Here's the problem:
    --I can get a stable OC at 3.8Ghz or 4Ghz on my 920 C0, P95 for 20 hours.
    --However, I was not able to suspend to RAM or reboot w/o errors.
    --Relaxed timings on RAM to 99926 cmd 80 and now I can cold or soft boot successfully. I cannot suspend to RAM though.
    UPDATE:

    Just had another BIOS warning on bootup. set my settings differently and booted right up, but I haven't tested for reboot. Here are my current settings:

    CPU vCore: 1.393
    QPI/Vtt: 1.36
    CPU PLL: 1.88
    RAM v 1.64 (BIOS allows only 1.64/1.66 not 1.65)
    Sys Mem Multi.: 1140
    CPU clock: 20 3.8Ghz
    QPI/Link Speed 6.84GHz
    Uncore Freq: 2470
    Bclk: 190

    CPU Clock Drive: 700mV
    CPU Clock Skew: 0
    CPU " " : 0

    Ram: 9 9 9 26 2T tRFC 80

    First off, nice vcore voltage ;)
    I can't get my C0 to run for 2h LinX stable, 100% load @ 3,8Ghz no less than 1,4v and 4Ghz no less than 1,5v vcore ! I must have a really bad batch LOL Purshased in November 2008. Do yours is Prime or LinX stable for 20h @ 3,8Ghz, 1,393v or hadn't I got it right? And the vcore for 4Ghz?

    Your RAM is underclocked, right? Multi x6, right? So, why do you need to set the voltage to 1,64v? Weren't 1,54v enough? Humm... I know there's a logical bug with i7 related to that but, instead of set the Uncore to 2x +1 the RAM frequency, try to set it to 2x the RAM frequency.
    And why not to set multiplier x8, your RAM will still be underclocked @ bclk 190, set the uncore according and pump-up the QPI voltage to 1,40v

    Yeah, the lack of 1,65v in UD5 (or EXTREME for that matter), is something I don't really understand and I wounder why is that?

      Hey,

      I got rock solid stable by updating the BIOS to F10 and using a x21 multiplier. My RAM is now running at 1800+ at 8 8 8 24 88 and CPU at 3.8Ghz. All voltages remian the same. The new BIOS ROCKS. It's not your CPU, it's the BIOS. Good luck!

        WOW! Those are exelent news, my friend!
        It's funny though, I flashed my board from BIOS f3 which the board brought, to f4, then to f5, next, flashed to f6, f7, f8, f9 and f11. I missed the f10 because by the time it came out, my system setup was disassembled to modd my case. LOL And it seems it's the best for your sistem; maybe it is for mine aswell. Thax for the input.
