  • BIOS Checksum Error

I tried overclocking my XP2400+ to have a 166fsb with a 12.5 multiplier and when i restarted out of the bios it gave me a BIOS checksum error and said "reading drive A" and then since i have no drive A, it had a system hault and started beeping like mad and i pressed the reset button to restart the computer like 3 times before i gave up and reset CMOS and that fixed it but of course set everything back to the defaults. I have an Asus A7N8X mobo with the nvidia chipset...

no i just got scared with that error and quit haha... 12x166 would be slower than stock 133x15 though...?

But it should still give ya the same PR rating (not as much outright speed is need when the FSB goes up) and this will determin if it's ya CPU or memory that ain't cuttin' it (more likely the last though). ;)

try bumping up your core & memory volts. a bit (if you haven't already)

it might give you the stability you're after....watch your temps though
