  • Graphic Cards: Which is better??

I think it's time for a upgrade from my FX5200, I really only have two choices now...which is faster??? A FX5900 (non-ultra) 128mb or a FX5600 Ultra with 256mb?? I've found good deals on both..but I dont know which is faster. Thanks for any help.

I am not familiar with either of these cards, but you should state whether or not you plan on overclocking, say that the 5600 is slower stock but if you overclock both of them...maybe the slower one can oc further and become faster?

Yes I will be overclocking, I guess it may be possible to overclock the FX 5600 ultra more so than the 5900...

Sunrider08: If I had the choice, personally I would buy the GeForce FX 5900.

Even if the 5900 is non-ultra and its 128mb?

Sunrider: Assuming you're talking about the GeForce FX 5900 128MB Standard and not the GeForce FX 5900 128MB Value, then yes.

I'm guessing this a value card..? I hope it's not because it is a good deal for a 5900.

the ultra has higher clock and more memory, i think that is about it? so i guess the regular one is fine if you decide to overclock. correct me if i am wrong guys.

The 5900 totally walks all over the 5600, no questions asked. Even the value version (400/700).

I have a 5600 256mb and is alot slower then my ti 4200 128mb, so dont get the 5600. Thats my two cents.

That's a pretty good deal for a FX5900, I'm going to consider that for my new system...

Looks good to me if you want a high end card but are still on a budget. However notice that Value card has slower memory and won't be able to reach the same speeds as the standard 5900, even if you overclock it.

Soulburner: It's not the Value card, it's the Standard card, so it is a great deal. My guess is that eVGA is selling them off in readiness for the NV38.
