  • Still notice tearing with Vsync

I use a CRT to view Far Cry with Vsync enabled on a 256MB RADEON 9800 Pro, but I still notice tearing. When the game's framerate is less than the moniter's refresh rate does the video card still wait for the next refresh before sending the data for a frame.

The tearing stopped when I enabled Vsync using Catalyst.

Than just leave it that way I guess, whatever works.

I don't know why you would want VSync enabled, but as long as you're happy with it that is what matters.

Personally, I think that Vsync (while it may reduce framerate a little) very much improves how smoothly images transition. No tearing is good.

I haven't had any issues with tearing so I guess I'll leave it disabled.

I personally use Vsync on UT2K4, it's annoying when it tears and you miss that headshot :(

I think tearing is a serious immersion damper.
